From Sept 10, 2025 to Sept 24th, 2025  join us for 20 days of non-stop music straight from the heart of Harlem as the Quite Sane Collective takes over with a powerful and immersive residency.

In a city where stages come and go with the volatility of the real estate market, staging a 21-day residency inside a Harlem brownstone feels less like a concert series and more like a manifesto. Guggenheim Fellow Anthony Tidd and his band, the Quite Sane Collective, aren’t just performing — they’re re-engineering the very idea of what a venue can be.

For three relentless weeks, this historic space becomes a laboratory, a pressure cooker, and a broadcast hub, beaming improvised experiments from Lenox Avenue to living rooms across the globe.

The concept is audacious: nine core performances, each one refusing polish in favor of raw immediacy; open-door jam sessions that treat risk as ritual; and weekends featuring special guest ensembles including Ursula Rucker, Sara Serpa & André Matos, Brandon Ross & Stomu Takeishi’s For Living Lovers, and the Afro Creative Ensemble with Steve Coleman and ShaRize.

Anchoring it all is the digital release of Prologue — the first chapter of Quite Sane’s three-part masterwork To Kill a Child of Troubled Times — available worldwide during the residency. The run culminates with a closing party that gathers the creative music aka jazz community, to celebrate both the album’s arrival and the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance that Atelier Harlem seeks to revitalize.
